My previous post showed you how to paint and wax upholstery fabric….in it I used Annie Sloan’s Soft Clear Wax. Now I would like you to see how her Soft Dark Wax can appear on painted upholstery. This is the painted piece (to learn how to paint it, read the previous post) : When applying wax to large surfaces, using a good wax brush is very advantageous; your local Annie Sloan Stockist will carry several kinds for you to choose from. The advantage is speed; the job will go much faster with a wax brush.
Here is the piece partially waxed so you can see the change happening:
Work in sections; applying wax to the entire area, then removing with a cloth the extra wax that did not bind to the paint. When the entire piece has been waxed, use clean cloths to remove the residual wax and buff it to a sheen. You can see how much the wax darkened the original color. The fabric was a floral tapestry, giving this beautiful texture that looks like tooled leather.
To find your local Chalk Paint® Stockist, go to Unfolded.com, choose Stockists, then put in your zip code and there will be a list for you. Contact them with any questions and, of course, to purchase the product.
Happy Painting!
