For those of you who have never taken a CHALK PAINT® Workshop, you are missing out on a wonderful experience. I say that because Annie Sloan’s paints and waxes are very easy to work with; no talent or “knack” for painting is required. Even a man can do it (just kidding guys, you know we love you)!
You simply register and arrive, ready to be amazed and delighted.
For the beginner workshop, you simply bring yourself in painting clothes (you may wear your tiara, if you so choose).
For the “Bring Your Own Piece” workshop, you bring a small item to paint. I would like to share one of these workshops with you:
These lovely ladies are Janet, Nancy, and Diane. They work together (and they even get along). Nancy and her husband were in the store the other day and she admired a technique I had done on a coffee table (more on that later). She and her friends have a “craft night” every Wednesday, so for this week, they registered for a workshop. I told them to bring something they could carry into the store, and hoped that none of them could carry a piano!
This vintage sewing cabinet belonged to Nancy’s grandmother and needed un update. Chalk Paint® in Primer Red and Florence were chosen as well as Annie Sloan’s “Frottage” technique for the top.
Diane loves the cute little feet on this nightstand but it needed a facelift, so she chose Coco and Duck Egg Blue for her color scheme and a stencil for the top .
Janet wants to make this special for her six year old granddaughter (who is evidently a princess!). She chose Old Violet and Old Ochre, with a stencil that befits her granddaughter’s station in life.
SEVERAL HOURS LATER (and much painting, chatter, and laughter):
A Transformation!
Now THIS is a piece fit for a princess!
And last but not least:
Can you tell that Nancy is happy with her heirloom?
Annie Sloan’s “Frottage” Technique
This faux-marble look is achieved with paint and newspapers. Yes, newspapers.
